General Information
Italian Jewish Museum named after A.S Nahon, and was established in Jerusalem in 1981 to collect, preserve and display items belonging to Jewish life in Italy, from the Renaissance to the present. These items were brought to Israel in the sixties by Dr. Umberto's right, a joint initiative of the Jewish communities of Italy and Israel.

Some of the museum is the new synagogue of the Jews Konliano Veneto, established in 1701 and has served the community, even if not continuously, until the First World War. After World War II, the Jews of Italy initiated the transfer of the synagogue in Jerusalem. Thus, in 1951, arrived in Jerusalem the inside of the packed synagogue, opened its doors for the Italian community's religious, and later became an integral part of the museum complex. Collection restores the rich life of Italy's Jews through the ages.

History of cultural diversity is essential and versatile tying them from Italy itself, and Jewish artifacts attest to the strength and vitality of this relationship. Moreover, the fact that for centuries held the cities of Italy in the form of cultural heritage has created a complex and varied among Italian Jewry itself. Jewish Art in Italy is a combination of local artistic style with Jewish content, and the Jews of Italy took part in the Italian artistic spirit since the Renaissance and used style typical contemporary themes to decorate their instruments saints, including shapes, decorations and symbols
. Examples can be found in the design of prayer silver bindings, illustrated address, of the Passover Haggadah and Books of Esther, as well as technique and design of gold and silver tissue on the curtains.
