Israel’s magic doesn’t end when the sun goes down; the action just moves from the beaches to the bars and clubs of Israel’s active nightlife scene. Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it in Israel.
Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv is the ‘‘Non-Stop City’ and her nightlife is famous worldwide. You can choose from a full range of nightlife scenes in Tel Aviv, from a chic eatery to an Irish pub, an American-style sports bar to a beach bar. Tiny hipster joints lie alongside world-famous bars like the Cat and Dog and The Block Club, where you can hear top live music from DJs around the world. Tel Aviv’s secular and liberal nature has also made it a top gay party destination, while foodies cluster in the varied restaurants of Sarona market. Top pop and rock stars include Tel Aviv on their concert schedule, filling the open air stadium of Ganei Yehoshua, so check who’s playing when you visit.
Tel Aviv is Israel’s best-known nightlife scene, but it’s not the only one. Jerusalem’s nightlife has blossomed in the last few years, with a more relaxed vibe than Tel Aviv. Bars and pubs line Jerusalem’s Ben Yehuda street and spill down Jaffa Street, offering great food and drink into the small hours. Jerusalem’s dance clubs are just as popular as those of Tel Aviv, and many bars also feature top live music bands. One recent nightlife hub is Mahaneh Yehuda market, where small eateries and eclectic bars open up after the produce-sellers have closed their shutters for the day, attracting a diverse mix of students and locals, secular and religious.
Eilat is Israel’s ultimate beach town and favorite vacation spot for Tel Aviv’s dedicated partygoers, so it’s no surprise that the nightlife is just as vibrant. On hot summer nights the pubs and bars are full and Eilat’s famous open-air nightclubs are rocking till dawn. Dance the night away in Selena or the Crazy Elephant, or enjoy live music at bars like Mike’s Place or the Three Monkeys. Beach bars, billiard halls, excellent cocktail bars and pubs line Eilat’s promenade, and in high summer the beaches themselves host live music performances and night-time beach parties.
Often overlooked by tourists, Haifa’s large student body and diverse character produces a rich and varied nightlife scene. Visit Haifa’s cozy pubs for artisanal beers and top pub food, or hang out for the night at one of her many cocktail bars or gourmet restaurants. Top Tel Aviv dance club Haoman has a satellite in Haifa, or get your dancing shoes on at the Gobi for a view over the Mediterranean while you groove.
